Good Friends

Throughout the summer we get to see many of our friends that we have made here at Camp Forest Springs.  Dick and Laura Fugman have been coming to camp from the Chicago area for many years.  As you can see they are big ‘Hairy’ supporters.  Why not consider coming to camp for a summer family camp vacation.  Check out camps website http://www.campforestsprings.orgimage

Some of the beautiful sites that we get to see as we travel back to camp after our day-off.

“I just realized that you wrote all those songs you taught us!” We’ve heard this comment quite often.  Most of the songs we do are either scripture or based on a scripture passage.  That’s because music has a way of sticking with us, and we are hoping kids and grown-ups alike will remember truth long after camp is over.

The tunes are simple and sing-able, but the unique arrangements give them energy and life.  Those arrangements are the work of Scott Malchow who has been the “man behind the scenes” for almost three decades now.  He was a teenager when he played guitar on our first album back in ’77.  Several years later he was arranging, producing, and playing guitar and keyboards for almost every song we have recorded—well over 50 songs when we last counted!  He also produced the puppet musicals. We always look forward to our time in the studio with him where we get to watch him “do his magic” and listen to his unique viewpoints of life.  We are so grateful for his talents and the time he has invested in our ministry!

Meet Our Grandchildren!

Two hundred nine children are here at Camp Forest Springs for a junior camp this week.  We were noticing a lot of familiar faces—familiar because they looked like campers who had been here twenty plus years ago.  We asked for a show of hands of the kids whose parents had been here for junior camp with the puppets.  Around 40 kids raised their hands and joined us for a picture in front of the time machine!

We are grateful for the ministry God allows us to have year after year here at camp.  Camp celebrates its 50th anniversary next year, and we have been here for over 30 of those years.
We echo the prayer of the psalmist who said, “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.” Psalm 71:18
(Just in case you were wondering, our own kids have not made us grandparents yet, but we are looking forward to it someday!)
